What’s something you’ve been waiting 25 years for?
On Friday night, the New York Knicks closed out the second round of the NBA playoffs, decisively beating the Boston Celtics (the defending champions) to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. For the first time in 25 years.
If you saw the post-game scene in New York on Friday night, you would have thought the Knicks had at least won the championship. But long-suffering Knicks fans know to appreciate the moments they are given. To not delay joy. That was the celebration on display on Friday night — a catharsis of 25 years of dashed opportunities, of suffering through the lowest of lows. A celebration of a long-dreamed-of milestone, no matter what comes next.
What is your version of the Knicks advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals? What sports dream are you holding out hope for? What pop culture moment are you waiting for? What most-wished-for dream do you hope to see come true?
Until next week, let’s go Knicks!!!!!
