If you thought people had a lot of opinions about how dogs wear theoretical pants and giraffes wear theoretical ties, prepare yourself for some fireworks for this next debate.
The hot dog.
Seemingly so straightforward — it’s just a sausage in a bun, after all — the hot dog evokes complex feelings, feelings tied to childhood memories, ballpark outings, and summer barbques.
Boiler or grilled? Mustard or ketchup? Onions and pickles? And of course, the question of relish, uncorking a whole slew of feelings. So today, I am asking you:
What is the right way to eat a hot dog?
Let the great debate begin.
Until next week,
Danielle
P.S. — Extra points if you wade into the even thornier “is a hot dog a sandwich” debate. I wish you luck on that one.
P.P.S. — Nothing feels sillier than sending a mass email about hot dogs right now, but my hope for this newsletter has always been to make space for people to be human with one another. It feels like we need that now more than ever.
